Okay so just yesterday, I came across a video on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jH9LVcU6so&feature=g-u-u&context=G24023f3FUAAAAAAAJAA) and then I just kind of froze and thought about life.So just an overview of the video, Janet is a 22 year old girl from UCLA and she is really sick. She needs a bone marrow transplant in order to survive and her deadline is April. This got me thinking - why did it have to be Janet? When I think about life, I think about babies being born with a clean slate and everything is perfect. As time passes, our slate is no longer clean, but for Janet, when she was born, her slate was already ‘damaged’. Some people may not believe in predestination and fate but I do and for me, I feel so sad and heartbroken that Janet was one of the people who was ‘chosen’ to have this sickness. I know that God has his plans for everyone in the world but I just don’t know why his plan for Janet was this. I feel really grateful that we’re all just healthy and living. We are able to enjoy life and feel free. I know we all worry things like HSC and school but really, don’t sweat the small stuff. I feel lucky to even be breathing because it was a chance that I was born into this amazing world to be able to experience life, love, friendship and hardship. I know that I probably can’t understand what Janet is going through but I do understand what her family and friends are going through. After experiencing what happened to my grandma, I can definitely say I am not going waste my life but actually live it to the fullest. I am so glad that we’re all healthy and I hope it stays that way. I want all of us to be able to fulfil our own purpose in life and be able to enjoy it. Once I got a Formspring question and it was ‘What is one insecurity you have?’. I went back to read the answer and I was amazed at what I said because I never thought I was wise enough to say it. My answer to that question will always be the same. It was ‘losing someone important’. |
