Grandma

So just recently, my grandma was suddenly admitted to the Royal North Shore Hospital. The phone call came to my mum just at dinner when we were happily chatting and eating away. She stopped, she listened and then she sprinted to the car. I waited until 3 in the morning that night, called my mum 11 times and in the end, I couldn't get through.The next day, I tried to wake up at 7.30 to see my mum but she still wasn't back. I saw her at 11.30 and she said, "Grandma is in the Intensive Care Unit. She has internal bleeding in her brain. 4 things have grown in her brain and one of them suddenly popped." At that moment in my mind, I thought my grandma was about to die. I visited her that exact same day. When I walked in, my grandpa looked tired and exhausted on an armchair and my aunt and cousin were bustling around to make my grandma comfortable. They left to talk to my mum so I was alone with my grandma. I stared at all the cords and machines everywhere connected to my tiny grandma. While I was feeding her icecream, my grandpa walked in. He took my grandma's hand and said, "Be comfortable okay? Get lots of rest and I'll come see you again tomorrow." My grandma replied, "Okay, you get lots of rest too. I will be fine." While I was witnessing that, I just let go and started crying. Being able to see such love at this age was amazing. I was so touched by them and when he left, I turned to my grandma. She saw the tears in my eyes and said, "Bianca, don't worry. I'm old. If this is my fate, I'm prepared." My grandma's surgery is today. I hope all goes well and God is with her along the way. |
